Golf is a popular sport which is why a lot of the tournaments are shown on television. You may not yet play with the likes of Tiger Woods but to be one of the best in the game, it will be helpful to know three golf swing tips.

First, you need a good shoulder turn to be able to hit the ball properly and let it land close to the hole. This is easier said than done because people have the misconception that making the left heel go up too much off the ground will make that work.

In essence, it does make the hip turn which is good but it does not produce any recoil. So what is the lesson here? Simply not to turn too much because recoil can be created not by how back the golfer turns when taking that shot.

Second, you must never let your chin rest against the chest because this will make it difficult to swing the left arm across the upper during the back swing. That should give you a fighting chance because you are an underdog and you have nothing to lose when you participate in the competition. Of course, things change when you have done well throughout the tour and people expect you to do just as good as you did before.

4. Read the green properly. A golf ball will generally roll away from a hill and towards a water source. So, keep this in mind and adjust as necessary.

5. The grain of the green is important too as it effects the roll. Shiny grass show the grain running away from you, and dull grass highlights the grain running towards you. Putts with the grain go faster and further. Those against the grain go slower and less far.

6. Your shoulders should free golf tips. They should be passive and not lead. Remember that your shoulder movement will determine the direction that your club, and therefore the ball, will travel.

7. Place the golf ball on the ground and take your stance in such a way that the shadow of your head covers the ball. Make your swing keeping your eyes on the shadow. If the shadow moves off the ball you have lost the proper swing center. If you keep the shadow on the ball, even though it moves a little, you have maintained the correct swing position.

Reduce Your Golf Handicap

So, you want to ensure that the next time you play golf , all elements of the swing ‘come together’ for you. And by ‘all elements’, I mean the club selection based on yardage, addressing the ball, being mentally tuned in and having a simple golf swing so that you will increase the accuracy of your stroke whilst also helping you to improve your golf handicap. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to achieve this goal - the question is which solution will work best for you.

Firstly, the best option to reduce your golf handicap is via lessons with the club professional. Assuming that you can afford a few lessons, it will have a better impact than any other. Next, there is the driving range, which is far less costly, but you could just be perfecting a flaw in your game. Of course, its also nice to receive some feedback from your buddies if it moulds well to your game.

These days, the other options are to look up a random online video or, you could invest in a system that is logically structured to help you get the most from your game, irrespective of your physique. I chose this last option due to affordability and am confident it was the right decision.

I play golf down in Melbourne, Victoria, around the famous ’sand belt’ area. My starting handicap was 26, and it stayed like this for about 2 months until a couple of ’solid’ rounds saw it drop to 23. It remained at 23 for several months despite me reading some magazines, trying a couple of grip changes and buying a new driver.

In May, 2009, I invested in a golf system that has assisted me in playing the most consistent (and enjoyable) golf of my life. Do I hit the ball with greater accuracy ? absolutely! The ball is now struck from the sweet spot, in the right direction, far more regularly. The best evidence I have of this is my handicap - I am now playing from 15 which is two better than my original goal (17).

I feel more confident now when I address the ball and when I ‘think’ about the stroke. Clearly, there’s still some work to be done, particularly around my putting, but I’ll take my 15 handicap over 23 any day. Realistically, given that I have a young son, I only play once a fortnight max, so I don’t know if I’ll quite make it to single figures, but the next goal is definitely to be shooting consistently in the low 80’s.

The system I bought was by far a better purchase than the putter and driver that I’ve bought. Note - I have never bought irons, I just use my dad’s ‘hand me downs’.
