Three Golf Swing Tips

Golf is a popular sport which is why a lot of the tournaments are shown on television. You may not yet play with the likes of Tiger Woods but to be one of the best in the game, it will be helpful to know three golf swing tips.

First, you need a good shoulder turn to be able to hit the ball properly and let it land close to the hole. This is easier said than done because people have the misconception that making the left heel go up too much off the ground will make that work.

In essence, it does make the hip turn which is good but it does not produce any recoil. So what is the lesson here? Simply not to turn too much because recoil can be created not by how back the golfer turns when taking that shot.

Second, you must never let your chin rest against the chest because this will make it difficult to swing the left arm across the upper during the back swing. The correct way to do is it to keep the chin up and allow the left arm to move freely across the chest. This will give you the wide arc that is needed to hit the ball in the in the right direction.

Third, learn to relax because you are not able to think straight when you are pressured. When this happens, you forget tips one and two which disrupts your natural rhythm of hitting the ball the right way.

That is probably hard to do when you are in to winning the game but this is what separates the boys from the men. To get your mind off what is happening, try to block everyone out and picture yourself in your ?happy place.?

Remember the movie ?Happy Gilmore?? That is exactly what Adam Sandler?s character did in the movie and that helped him win despite the odds.

You might not get all these three tips overnight but if you practice regularly, you will get the hang of things. You have to remember that professional golfers also make mistakes and that they don?t always win each time they are in a tournament.

That should give you a fighting chance because you are an underdog and you have nothing to lose when you participate in the competition. Of course, things change when you have done well throughout the tour and people expect you to do just as good as you did before.

When all else fails, try to remember golf swing tip number 3 because the difference between winning and losing is attitude and that is all in your head. Until you get it right, continue practicing at home, in the golfing range and out there on the green.

Technique and attitude is what the three golf swing tips are all about. How well you perform starts the minute you tee off which is why it is important to make it count so you won?t have a hard time later on when you are only a few yards left from the hole.

If you get lucky, you may even do a ?Hole in One? which does not happen very often. That will of course make you move on to the next hole that could be more challenging than the previous one.

It is all about you when you are out there on the green and success can only be achieved by following these golf swing tips.

Practical Tips For Collectors Of Golf Collectibles

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Do you have passion for golf? If you have been following the sport for quite some time, you may already have been investing in different golf collectibles. Your passion may be burning inside you for years. As many other fanatics and collectors get into the hobby, you surely would consider your collections as more prized. Do you intend to build your own collection of golf collectibles? It would not be difficult to do so. In fact, you may already have several important items to begin with.

If you have golf clubs, golf putters, tees, balls, and other related items, you could already jumpstart into the hobby. For most collectors, golf memorabilia items are must-haves. No golf collectors could go on without several memorabilia in their possession. How could you make good in collecting such golf collectibles? Here are several practical tips that could truly be of great help to you.

First, bear in mind that all golf memorabilia could be considered as collectibles. Such items could include posters, pictures, and art pieces. Did you know that even shirts, magazines, and post cards could turn into memorable and significant memorabilia? If the items are personally signed or autographed by famous icons and superstars like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, they could already be considered rare and priceless. It is just amazing how signatures could turn ordinary items into important ones.

Rare golf items are more of collectors’ items as well as they are novelties. Through the years, many golf items were designed, made, and sold across the market as special collectors’ objects. Clubs and balls that were rarely designed and made could also be included. Basically, models and brands that are not anymore sold in the market are instantly considered as golf collectibles. They could be of great value, especially if they could be traced back to the middle of the 1800s.

When collecting old feather golf balls, remember that those bearing manufacturers’ marks could be considered more valuable compared to those that are without those marks. The reason behind this is quite obvious. Most collectors prefer their items to be associated or identified with specific and famous brands and models.

Golf collectibles like balls could be manufactured using gutta percha. These are more popular in the market as ‘gutty’ golf balls. They are instantly treated as collectors’ items. These days, the balls (no matter how simple and plain looking) could be sold at about $100 per piece, or even more. Wooden shaft golf clubs could be worth just about several thousands of dollars, especially when sold through the night market.

Beware because not all golf collectibles that are sold as 1800 models are genuine. Reproductions are very common among golf collectibles these days. There is nothing wrong about collecting reproductions. In fact, they have already actively infiltrated the main secondary market. If you aim not to buy such reproductions, it is best to purchase items from reliable, credible, and highly knowledgeable dealers.

Start searching right now. There is no room for procrastinators when it comes to collecting golf collectibles. This is because everyday, more and more collectors are adding to the growing list. Thus, it would be harder to find and buy golf collectors’ items in the market. This is also the reason why price tags of such objects keep on rising uncontrollably.

Golf Swings Are Just One Aspect to Win the Game

Golfers who are able to make those great golf swings developed their skills. They were not born with it so don?t think that copying what these people do will some day make you just like one of them.

This is because the more you try to imitate them, the more you make mistakes. The morale of the story then is to learn how to play your own game.

But how do you play the game without following what the best do? Well the answer is practice. If you are new to the sport, get professional help and learn the basics. If this is not enough, watch some instructional videos.

You have to put the time and effort into the game to get the results you want. Yes you have a job or a business but for golfers like Tiger Woods, that is their job so they can spend more time there compared to you.

Does this mean you quit your job and try your luck at professional golf? Of course not but given the limited practice time, you have to maximize each session.

You might see a lot of people practicing at the golf range. They would hit a buckets and buckets of balls but then what happens? Nothing because n an actual game, it all boils down to putting the ball into the hole. This means you should spend more time on your short game because this is where it really counts.

To do that, do various drills that will help you chip and pitch. Since the ball may sometimes land in the bunker, practice shots from there as well. A study shows that 50% of golfers will have to make their shots from 75 yards or less from the hole. So you should also practice putting shots at this distance and less.

Spend time practicing your wedge play because this can help you setup an east birdie. Hit as many balls from 40 to 135 yards. This club may be shorter than what you use for long distances but the principle is the same.

There are various golf techniques around to help you improve your short game. You can try hitting the ball with your club only using one hand, hitting the ball with your eyes closed and drawing a chalk line to make sure that when you hit the ball, it is moving in a straight line.

There are also a few tools you can use like golf gloves to ensure you are holding the club properly because how you hold it also affects where the ball is going to travel.

One thing that you need which you cannot buy from the store or learn from a professional is attitude. Confidence plays a significant factor because if you have doubts that the ball will not go in the hole, chances are, it won?t. Think positive and hope for the best because this is all you can do each time you make that putt.

To win in golf, the golf swing is just one of the things that will make the ball travel far enough to land close to the hole. In the end, it is your ability to putt it in that counts which is why you should spend more time on your short game than anything else.

Srixon Shocked Me Into Giving Up Pro V1’s, Well Sort Of!

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

When choosing a golf ball you are generally bombarded with a vast quantity of shiny, beautifully wrapped products. All the manufacturers claim that their new model is better in every way, made to go straight and great at finding the hole.
I have always been a fan of the Pro V1. It was more of a blind choice, a choice made because I listened to all the wonderful review and the fact that it is the most used ball on tour. I, like many others, thought that if I played with the same stuff the pros did I was sure to be the next Tiger Woods. Sadly this was not the case and before long the use of these top quality and hence top price balls was getting very, very expensive.
The next stage for me was moving on to the slightly cheaper alternatives. I tried Nike Ones and Taylormade balls, and to be honest there wasn?t a whole lot of difference. I still believed that the Titleist was a superior ball, it felt better to strike and gave a slightly more responsive feel around the green, but the one big issue I had with the ball was the fact that it cuts up very easily. I am a big hitter and my fast swing speed meant that I was ruining a ball every three or four holes (and because I play a fairly challenging course in Hampshire I lose a fair few too!).
It was fair to say that I was very set in my ways with a firm view that nothing was any good accept for the Pro V1. So you will appreciate just how surprised I was when I found a ball that cost less than half the price that felt just as nice to hit. I would have never discovered the great value and performance of a 2-piece ball.
I have tried 2-piece balls before when I was learning the game but like many others I always associated them with distance balls. The sort you get at low end driving ranges. The type that feel like a solid rock when you strike them, no matter how sweetly.
Anyway, I was given a sleeve of Srixon AD333?s by a firm at a corporate day. I decided that it was not worth wasting my good balls playing a fairly unchallenging poorly maintained course. So I cracked open my Srixon sleeve, and to my shock and surprise they felt amazing to strike. They were nice to put and chip with as well. To be honest you cannot get a 2-piece ball to feel like a 3-piece for the short game, but the AD333?s came unbelievably close.
The Pro V1 will remain my favourite ball, but with the credit crunch in full swing and new versions with higher prices being released all the time, I have decided that the Srixon offers me what I need for the majority of my golf. For the mid to high handicapper it is a no brainer as a first choice ball at only £15.99 a dozen. Lower handicappers may need convincing, but it is well worth a try!
P.S. If you want to know where I play, check out the Hampshire guide and search for Old Thorns.

Golf Mastery 101: The Psychology Of The Golf Swing!

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Previous to focusing on the subject of developing self-assurance with ones golf swing I want you all to think around this concept; you cannot solely “Think” yourself a wonderful golf swing. Otherwise, we would all only think concerning pots of gold manifesting in our front rooms and we’d all be loaded. Nevertheless, the pots of gold do not get there merely by thinking around them, similarly, our golf swing does not change into that of Tiger Woods solely by thinking alone. Certainthing needs to be completed to get confident around that golf swing. So, this is the first notion that I like you to think concerning previous to I talk around building a powerful level of self-assurance in your golf swing.

When anybody is increasing a new self-confident golf swing, at this point needs to be an element of action that is taken to change and update the golf swing appropriately and efficiently. Some differentthings needs to be done sufficient times for the unconscious mind to learn it.

The early success philosophers and gurus like Stephen Covey and Napoleon Hill recognised that in order for a new behaviour to happen unconsciously and routinely, it needs to be completed for 21 successive days. So then the new behaviour is studyed thoroughly by the unconscious mind and your faith in your golf swing can start to occur on auto-pilot. So, any conviction with your golf swing needs certain conscious effort and repeated application for your new confident golf swing to take place unconsciously.

Now, when you have a new way of doing things, the other, old, unwanted way of doing things doesn’t just wither away right away. It remains in the bank. If you were confined to a wheelchair, the muscles in your legs would start to experience atrophy, the same way that when specific portions of your brain are not used, they experience atrophy; this is why it is challenging for us to learn languages when we are a good deal older and school kids find it a bit easier; that section of our brain has not been used for a extended time.

The old golf swing needs considerable time to experience atrophy. Visualize that at this time and now as you read this, your unconscious mind has carved out a ive way of you swinging your golf club and this way is well defined by repitition from the past. Each time you step up to execute your golf swing, your unconscious mind carries on down that well trodden passageway that you have always gone down; your golf swing is the same. It is the only way that it knows and is the easiest route to take.

When you create an alternative, self-confident new golf swing, you are carving out a new passageway that needs to be trodden down and paved well several times, so that your unconscious knows it is there and knows that it can seize this route in specific conditions, events and situations.

So then with recurringly taking the new pathway, the old passageway can begin to overgrow and have its own atrophy. However, we all recognize how easy it is to unearth an old passageway and drift back to our old golf swing; if we permit ourselves to go back along that way, it can begin to get carved out again.

These ideas can develop the basis of any programme of change. Nevertheless we are focussing on your golf swing at this time today and how to develop enhanced self-assurance with your golf swing.

When I first became involved with the world of hypnosis, NLP and personal expansion, I read a fantastic book by a man called Dr Maxwell Maltz entitled “Psycho-cybernetics” that shaped the basis of lots of modern ideas as to how we understand personalities. Dr Maltz was a plastic surgeon and he found that if he altered the way people looked, often it changed their persona too. When people looked different, they also felt different. Often people that had lacked self-assurance, were changeed into more self-confident, outgoing people who lived life with more zest.

What puzzled Dr Maltz is that some of the clients did not appear to get happier. some, whose appearance had changed a lot, didn’t seem to alter their feelings. They still felt lacking in conviction.

So what Dr Maltz concluded was that cosmetic surgical procedure would not benefit the client if they had a weak image of themselves. His solution was to create a visualisation practice that helped them to modify their inner self-image. He got wonderful results. So when the clients changed the way they felt about themselves, they became happier and more content and their faith grew. You know that when you feel great concerning your golf swing, your golf swing is improved and you are more adept with your golf swing. The technique is easy, here it is;

Firstly, envision your golf swing as you would ideally like your golf swing to be. Think about how you would look if you were as happy and self-confident as you would likeed to be with your golf swing. How do you walk? What do you wear? What expressions are on your face? How do you move? Take all the time needed for this, to really get an idea of how you are when you are confident with your golf swing.

Secondly, when you know what you will look like, make a film clip in your mind, in your imagination of yourself being happy, confident and deeply self-assured with your golf swing.

Thirdly, visualize yourself stepping into that film, visualize seeing through those eyes, hearing through those ears, and feel those self-confident feelings, think to yourself; how do I know the self-confident feelings? Where in my body are they? Enjoy feeling and being precisely how you like to be.

Lastly for this exercise, visualize that when you get up tomorrow you wake up as that ideal you, feeling this good and visualize your golf swing swing going as you want it to and be confident regarding your golf swing.

Remember what I said at the beginning, you must use this method over and over in order to get the most from it and really make yourself a self-confident golf swing. Look out for section two of this article of getting confident with your golf swing.
